Strategic Goal 4 is the purview of Biz at Advance IT Minnesota -- Improving employee and business performance through innovative continuing education and applied research products. Our focus is on opportunities primarily in the areas of business/leadership skills, IT/business integration and alignment, risk management and IT security.

PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS

Business Case Study Competition: Advance IT Minnesota is pleased to announce its second annual Business Case Study Competition to be held in the Twin Cities, March 2-3, 2012.  This competition is being held in response to our Industry Partners’ strong and ongoing need for tech-savvy graduates who have both strategic and tactical thinking capabilities as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.

This competition is open to one team from each of MnSCU’s four-year institutions.  Teams are to be comprised of four upper division Information Technology students (Business, MIS, CS, CIS, and related majors).

Fundamentals of Secure Application Programming:  This two-day course discusses real-world use cases and offers implementable solutions, best practices and recommended approaches to application security.  This class can be held in your facility or at Advance IT Minnesota.  Contact Mary Texer to schedule.  mary.texer@metrostate.edu.

Executive Briefings: Held to address hot topics in the IT Strategy and Security arenas with MnSCU faculty or other subject matter experts as facilitators. The nextBriefing will be scheduled for Fall, 2011.

Applied Research and Consulting: This service will allow organizations to capitalize on the knowledge and research capabilities of the MnSCU faculty and graduate students. An Experts Directory is under construction. Organizations will be able to easily find the expertise they need for presentations, consulting and/or research. 

Basic Principles of Adult Learning Theory:  This booklet presents an introduction to Adult Learning Theory coupled with a practical approach to seminar preparation.  This document was researched and developed by Mary Texer, Director, IT Industry Relations for Advance IT Minnesota.  Click here for a copy of this document.
