Maverick Software Consulting Wins  2011  “Innovative Collaboration of the Year” Tekne Award

Minnesota High Tech Association Honors Pioneering Student Employment Program

MINNEAPOLIS (November 7, 2011) Maverick Software Consulting, partnered with Advance IT Minnesota to expand experiential learning and employment opportunities for students attending Minnesota State Colleges and Universities  (MnSCU) institutions, has been recognized by the Minnesota High Tech Association for its unique program.

Maverick Software Consulting hires students for software development and testing projects while they earn their degrees. Currently, they have students working with information technology professionals at Thomson Reuters, Digital River, Symantec or Merrill Corporation. This solution provides companies with an alternative to offshore contracts to augment current staff while providing students with on campus employment opportunities.

In addition to the original site at Minnesota State University, Mankato, both Metropolitan State University and St. Cloud State University are now working with corporate clients at new facilities developed by Maverick, and work continues to identify additional clients and locations for future expansion.

Owing to the hands-on real work in software testing and development, students are ready to thrive in the work world without the standard “ramp up” time, giving them an employment advantage. Nearly 150 Maverick employees have graduated in the past four years and they have a 100% success rate in initial job attainment.

The Tekne Awards honor those who play a significant role in discovering new technologies that educate, improve lifestyles and impact the lives and futures of people living in Minnesota and all over the world.  The Innovative Collaboration of the Year Award honors a collaboration or partnership that demonstrates leadership, dedication and excellence in delivering an innovation to Minnesota.
